I've been lucky enough to work with Val Mattinson for several years now and it's been a really interesting and hugely successful journey.
I first met Val Mattinson in 2010 when she came into the office with an idea (and a great deal of purpose) about a wedding and event planning business she was about to start. During our first meeting it became clear that Val was a very driven and confident person with a clear idea of where she wanted the business to go.
It was great to work on the initial ideas, logo and website design but even better to see Val embrace the process and really get involved with blogging and managing her own website.
Fast forward seven years and with a hat full of awards and accolades, Val is the top wedding planner in the East Midlands as well as a business mentor and a regional ambassador for the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners.
In late 2016 Val decided it was time to revamp the website and the over-all look of her business so I set about designing a logo, having received a very good brief. With the logo decided upon it was time to tackle the upgrade and redesign of the website - no mean feat considering Val had written over 300 blog posts and expanded the site greatly over the years. All sections of the website were redesigned and mobile usability was at the core of my thinking. The site was again built around the Modx content management platform, which Val has found very usable and flexible, with the added benefit of a mobile-friendly framework that means her site looks as good on a smartphone, as a desktop computer.
The typography is a particularly important aspect of the site as it adds so much to the elegant but relaxed feel.
Val is very pleased with the resulting website and I'm pleased, not only with the way the site has developed over the years but with the way it has helped Val achieve her business goals in becoming one of the most successful wedding and event planners in the country.
